Dream

I had a dream last night about Ryan. I was walking along a road back in my old neighborhood in Big Sandy, Texas. I passed my uncle Tom's (He's the oldest of my dad's brothers) place and there were a whole bunch of chairs set up in rows. In my dream, we had had Ryan's funeral there and it had been a few days since and the chairs hadn't been taken down. So I decided I would help. I went to Tom's house and my cousin Mitch opened the door. I went inside and there were all sorts of people there. My dad and some women that I didn't recognize but they said they were related somehow.

I asked Tom about putting the chairs away and he said there were some carts outside that I could put them on. I went out to find the carts and Mitch came out to help. Then Tom came out and asked everyone to follow him. We went back to this barn-like building and there was a table in the middle with papers on it. Tom said this was a story that Ryan had been working on before he died and he was trying to finish it and edit it so it could be published.

He had gone through most of it and just had the last couple pages left that he needed help with. He started to read some of it and I remember one line in the book was talking about some famous scientist or philosopher...someone like Einstein. And it was talking about what happened in his life and the line said, "He killed myself." My uncle had crossed out "myself" and put "himself" so the sentence would make sense. Then we all went through the rest of it. It was all jumbled up, part of it was written like a play, some like a novel. Some was first person, some third.

I guess I woke up while we were still trying to finish the story. I don't remember what it was about, I just remembered that one line.

Anyways, it was fresh on my mind this morning so I thought I'd share. I'm not sure why my uncle Tom was in it instead of Richard, but that's how dreams are sometimes, you don't understand all of it.
